If the atmospheric conditions are just right (and the air is very clear) you can occasionally see two small islands off the coast at Santa Monica: Santa Barbara Island and San Nicolas Island. Santa Barbara Island is about 38 miles out, and San Nicolas is at a distance of about 60 miles from the shore. |
