The 150-Foot Solar Tower
Angeles National Forest Curve Fire
of September 2002.



According to the U.S. Forest Service, the "Curve Fire" started at 12:35 pm on September 1st. Soon after that, one of the solar observers noticed the smoke during his lunch break. After returning to the 150-foot solar telescope, he immediately turned the Towercam eastward toward the fire. This is the first shot, about 23 minutes after it was reported.
